PROJECT RISE

ABOUT PROJECT RISE:

Project RISE is a collaborative initiative between DCJS and the YMCA of Yonkers, aimed at providing support for programs that address trauma resulting from prolonged exposure to violence. These programs include mentoring, mental health services, restorative practices, community trust-building, education and employment support, and youth development activities. The primary goal is to enhance resilience and strengthen youth, families, and neighborhoods.
In each community, up to four lead organizations receive funding, with a portion allocated to their own programs and the remaining funds distributed to support other local organizations—many of which have not previously received state funding.
For 2024, the Yonkers Family YMCA has been allocated $666,667, with $66,667 designated for their own programs and $600,000 allocated to community partners 914United, We Art One, and Exquisite Academy of the Arts.
