Community Gardens

Community Gardens:

The community gardens are a collection of public spaces where residents from the city of Yonkers, neighboring cities and the YMCA gather to grow and learn. 
The gardens program provides the plots, expertise, and support systems to heal land beautify the urban landscape and thus our own internal landscapes. 
Besides growing organic food, and bringing families together, the Community Gardens can be used for meetings and much more.

What we offer:

  • Grow up to 30lbs of food per raised bed.
  • Each garden holds from 12 to 90 raised beds/plots where individuals and families grow and cultivate together.
  • What to Grow? from vegetables, fruits, plants for medical purposes, and flowers.

What we do:

  • 2000 participants throughout the city, including 825 families.
  • Environmental educational programs for childcare centers, summer camps, adults and elementary schools.
  • Educational Programs & environmentally friendly arts and crafts for the various community events.
