Competition often makes people work harder on some of life’s efforts than just the fact that we should do it anyway. This was certainly the case in our 12 week challenge “Health Hearts for the Holidays.” Just announced were the winners, “The Silver Stars,” a team of older adults that took exercise seriously. The team lost a total of 62 pounds.
Many of these older adults often refer to themselves as Junior Seniors, inferring that they were demonstrating that they are not typical older adults. They wanted it clear that they could make weight loss happen. It was quite common to see members of the team swimming, doing water aerobic, participating in older adult fitness, or working out on their own.
The team won three-month YMCA memberships and cash awards.
Congratulations Silver Stars!
